Seems former Vice President Joe Biden can no longer keep quiet about his feelings on the 2016 election. Appearing at a hedge fund conference in Las Vegas this week, Biden was interviewed by Fusion reporter Hamilton Nolan and had some not so nice things to say about Hillary.
“I never thought she was the correct candidate. I thought I was the correct candidate.”
A comment which was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Biden later went on to intimate that Hillary probably should not have pushed herself forward as a candidate knowing the amount of political baggage she carried, telling the crowd, “No man or woman should announce for the presidency unless they genuinely believe that for that moment in the nation’s history they are the most qualified person to deal with the issues facing the country.”
His ultimate endorsement of her notwithstanding, it’s always been clear that Biden has never been much of a fan a Hillary. Last year, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times’ Mike Memoli Biden expressed his thoughts about how she ran her campaign with typical antipathy.
“I don’t think she ever really figured it out,” said Biden. “And by the way, I think it was really hard for her to decide to run.”
Adding, “She thought she had no choice but to run. That, as the first woman who had an opportunity to win the presidency, I think it was a real burden on her.”
As we all know, hindsight is 20/20…but speaking of 2020. According to many sources close to the former Vice President, he has not yet ruled another presidential bid. He would be 78 then, but I’m sure as plucky and full of vinegar as he ever was. Of course, in the midst of our current situation with the prevaricator-in-Chief, four years seems like an eternity.
I guess we’ll all have to wait and see.
