Our prevaricator-in-Chief’s new budget proposal comes out this Tuesday and the news isn’t good for vulnerable families struggling to make it in America. According to a new report in the Washington Post the plan will include major cuts to Medicaid and gut other assistance programs for low income citizens.
Earlier this month, the GOP passed a healthcare bill in the House of Representatives that would explode our healthcare system and funnel $800 billion dollars away from Medicaid in order to pay for a massive tax cut for the rich.
The Post story also says that under the new proposal, U.S. states would be given more control over anti-poverty safety net programs including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the food stamp program. SNAP is the nation’s largest anti-hunger program and an essential life preserver to over 44 million Americans in need.
Whether this new bill is able to pass the Senate remains a big question. Republicans are understandably wary of supporting a bill that would hurt a good section of their reliable constituency, particularly with a new election coming up in 2018.
The White House has not issued any official statement on the proposal.
It is a question sure to be asked of president pumpkin head as he continues his travels across the Middle East and Europe on a mission of peace, arms deals, malarkey, hypocrisy and good will towards man.
