Saudi Arabia rolled out the red carpet for Donald J Trump early on Saturday, as he arrived for his much anticipated visit to the birthplace of Islam or as Trump would call it – Islamic Fundamentalism. As the pumpkin prez descended Air Force One with mopey Melania in tow, 81-year-old Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and other high-level country officials were waiting for him with a military brass band and open arms.
This is the first stop in a nine day tour which will cover five countries across the Middle East and Europe.
Trump starts off his journey with the signing of a $110 billion dollar arms deal between the US and Saudi Arabia – brokered primarily by son-in-law Jared Kushner – which aims to equip the oil-rich country with a fresh arsenal of American made bombs, planes and ships.
And Hillary Clinton was supposed to be the one in bed with Saudis?
The deal was described by Trump with typical half-witted pith: “tremendous investments in the United States.”
Adding, “That was a tremendous day. Tremendous investments in the United States. Hundreds of billions of dollars of investments into the United States and jobs, jobs, jobs,”
Among others, the deal includes agreements between Saudi oil company Aramco and multiple US firms.
Trump’s expedition comes in the midst of a raging ten alarm controversy taking place at home. What impact it will have on the rest of his trip will be interesting to watch. The reception he gets on his stop in Israel will be particularly telling, after the revelation that he shared with Russia their highly classified intelligence.
