Ansley, thinking of you in particular: https://profilesinhistory.com/auctions/comic-illustration-ar t-the-property-of-a-distinguished-american-collector/

INSANE comic art auction going on now.  Obviously the collection of someone who knew their shit.  Make a point to download the PDF.

Hey - the catalog is only $100.  Would make a reallllllllll nice coffee table piece.

FILM/TV/MUSIC/Art etc... / Days of Future Future (New Byrne X-Men)
« on: October 22, 2019, 07:50:46 PM »
So about a year ago, veteran comic artist John Byrne (famous for definitive turns on Fantastic Four, Superman, and X-Men) started to write and draw a bunch of new X-Men comics just for fun.  Marvel was interested in publishing but he opted instead to run them on his own website as fan fiction.  Itís all a bit roundabout but the upshot is that thereís now five out of twelve or so full issues from a major creator returning to the property where he really made his name - and the interesting thing on top of that is the conceit that these new issues pick up from when he originally left the book in 1981.  The new comics are also pencils only, which gives a pretty fascinating glimpse into the working process of a skilled comics craftsman.

Iím having trouble pasting the links from my phone, but Iíll try to do it from my laptop later.

Hijinks in a medieval convent (actually based on an Italian work from the 13th century).  The conceit is that the dialogue is all modern.  Good cast, well-staged.  Never quite gets off the runway.

Just watched ĎThe Little HoursĒ last night, and we were both disappointed.  It had a lot of potential but was just too slack in execution.  It sort of ambled onto the screen, sat down, checked its watch, and then took a nap for 90 minutes.

I feel like Another Woman is only so high on your list because of how often we quote the line.  And the point of the quoting for me was also partly mocking the idiocy of it - itís kinda not good.

Itís news but doesnít actually mean anything, since a) it was a givrnthat it would happen, and b) as they mentioned on the 538 podcast, it only speaks to his existing base of support and does literally nothing to expand out to other non-Bernie progressives (I refuse to let them own that term just for themselves) and moderates.
