Tomas Haake from the extreme metal band Meshuggah is doing some cool stuff.
Also, check the current version of King Crimson. They play live with 3, sometimes 4, drummers and it's unreal.

I've read Edie maybe 50 times over the course of my life since I was a kid.. one of my favorite books of all time..
